Grilled Beef Steak with Cauliflower puree and Edamame

Grilled Beef Steak with Cauliflower puree and Edamame

Grilled Beef Steak with Cauliflower Puree on a bank holiday weekend anyone?

So it’s the bank holiday weekend and the weather for once is sunny in London, which is surprising. So I finally decided to go and get my hair cut after 8 months, the last time I had my hair done was, before my son was born. It’s amazing how time flies when you are just busy looking after two kids.

Anyways, I was in a mood for celebration and fancied a glass of red wine after my new hair do. Steak is a classic partner with red wine, and instead of chips I decided to make cauliflower puree. I gave some of the puree (before adding salt) to my 7 month old baby. Tomato salsa is an option here, but my husband requested for it, as he is a fan.

My 3 year old daughter finds beef tough to chew but I still encourage her to eat it by cutting them into very fine pieces after it’s cooked.  Beef is a rich source of high quality protein and various vitamins and minerals and I try my best to include red meat once a week in our meal.

The step-by-step-guide and the pictures for the Grilled Steak with cauliflower puree and Edamame is on the printable version of the recipe below.

  2. Heat the grill pan at high heat and turn it down to medium heat just before you place the steak on it. Cook the steak for 1 to 2 minutes on each side but keep an eye on it, because the cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the meat. This is for medium cooking of the steak. Let it rest for about 3 minutes so the juices will run out on the resting dish rather than on your plate.

You can turn this dish into even more special by adding breaded squid from the supermarket. I just chuck the squid pieces in the air fryer for 15 minutes and its nice and crispy. My daughter loves this squid dish for her dinner.
