  • 200 g Rice
  • 300 ml Water 1.5 time that of rice
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil


  1. Measure 200 grams of rice.

  2. Wash the rice in cold water to get rid of starch and dust.

  3. Put the rice into the pan and water. Remember, one part rice to one and a half part water. I am using brown basmati rice here so add slightly more water. So about 350ml instead of 300ml of water for white basmati.

  4. Add salt and olive oil.

  5. Put the lid on and bring the water to boil, then turn the heat down to medium or just below medium.

  6. Let it cook for about 10 minutes or until the water is absorbed by the rice fully.
