Healthy Five Spice Marinated Chicken Thighs

Chicken thighs are deeply flavoured with droolworthy five spice marinade and finished off cooking in Air-fryer to achieve deliciously healthy juicy chicken

  • 1 kg Chicken thighs
  • 1/2 Lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. Fish sauce
  • 2 tsp. Garlic paste
  • 1 tsp. Ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp. Seasoned rice vinegar or white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 tbsp. Hot Chile paste/ sauce or crushed chillies
  • 1 tbsp. Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. Pepper
  • Salt to taste before you add salt, I would taste the marinade as the soy sauce and fish sauce contains salt


  1. Score the meat so the marinade will penetrate through meat.
  2. In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together
  3. Marinate the chicken with five-spice marinade mixture
  4. Leave it in the fridge overnight; if it’s not possibly then at least 6 hours

  5. When ready to cook, take the chicken out of the fridge and leave it in the room temperature for about 30 minutes.

  6. Place the chicken in the air-fryer
  7. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes.
